If one player makes it to the edge of a screen, the other is teleported to them at the start of the next screen.Player 2 is unable to talk to other characters and is thus dependent on Player 1 purchasing upgrades for the both of them.

By jumping and using the Shovel Drop on their partners, players can boost each other to progress through stages.A player can also push the other player by walking into them. Doing so can cause damage or death if a player is pushed into a enemy or hazard, so be careful. The players cannot directly hurt one another, but should their attacks hit each other, they will knock each other about.Health and magic are separate, but if one player dies, they may revive themselves, taking half of the other player's health (example: one player has 4 health, the other one revives, both will have 2 health). As a consequence, both players must wear the same Armor, although Player 2's Armors will have an alternate color palette compared to Player 1's standard Armor color (for example, the default armor is blue, but it will be green for Player 2). Gold is shared between players and items and upgrades purchased are available to both players.6 Co-op features in other campaigns and games of the series.
